Combined the Disney version of her likeness plus a reference to the engraving created in 1616 - the only known portrait of Pocahontas rendered from life.

Drawings and transfer images for a Frida Khalo linocut. This print will be for a Frida Khalo themed party in town, and also stands as a test for another linocut I'll be working on soon. I'm illustrating the month of February for a 2014 letter-pressed calendar; a collaboration between several Richmond artists. The theme is "River City", but I'll probably incorporate Valentines Day somehow - because I love that pink, frilly shit. Haven't made a linocut in a couple years so I wanted to do a practice run first. Still have a bit of carving to do before I can make the final Frida print. Coming soon!

Really wanted to make something with these colors yesterday. Here it is. Ink and digital. Not a big fan of digital drawing or coloring, but it's relatively quick and easy to do when out of the studio. Used a photo reference (loosely) of my friend Rachael, who is now in Argentina.
